Progressive Faith

Most people agree
That moving forward with Yahweh perpetually
Is a wonderful goal and worthy of consideration,
But there are places we think Yahweh isn’t,
And so there are places we aren’t willing to go…

Eternally growing with Yahweh our Father,
A goal that is worthy of our lives and faith,
But we will not see Him in any discomfort
And so we refuse to know Him in all things

But He says I am here in the midst of the struggle,
He calls out our names on the wind and the waves
And He doesn’t expect us to stay in the lifeboat
He expects us to trust Him and the life that He gave

So into the darkness and into the valley
I venture, though I have to venture alone,
For though most only see Him in light and on mountains,
I’ve chosen that He be all I’ve ever known

So hatred and anger, death, destruction and violence
All of the things they said He’d never be,
I welcome and embrace to weave into my garments,
My life’s full expression and His Tapestry

And I find Him in new ways in these hidden places,
Not so I can change them and bring them to light
But as I know Him here and have full integration,
Knowledge of good and evil becomes knowledge of Life

So I will learn that there is no dichotomization
Between good and evil, right and wrong, dark and light
Instead I will learn that all is Love’s expression
And my Knowledge of Him will now be multiplied

He tore up the Veil that brought separation
But we put it back, false garments o’er our eyes
For we thought that we were bringing Oneness and completion
But only as we changed everything in our lives

There is value in all things, not just in potential
And every experience can show us Him,
But we miss out and lose it if we just want to force growth
Instead of trusting that growth is coming as part of what is

Yahweh in each moment is just as pure and precious
As He is when we get to the “Kingdom on Earth”
And if we choose to see Him, we will find a treasure
In every blessing, but also every curse.
