Fire

People think what’s valued
Is only to be stored
They scrape it all together
And put it in a hoard.

It never will be used
It will be there forever
Preserved in the same condition
As that in which it entered.

But Yahweh doesn’t do this
With that which He loves most
Instead He sacrifices it
To reap a hundredfold.

Into the fire He places
That which He holds dear
It burns off every stronghold
And casts down every fear

The fire’s very painful
And only for the brave
But the fire doesn’t damage
The fire is the safe.

The fire makes us whole
The fire purifies
And only out of fire
Does the phoenix rise.

For safety is wholeness,
Yahweh’s desire
And to be whole I
Must embrace the fire.

Though the fire may be painful
I am very brave
So I embrace the fire because
The fire makes me safe.
